I am thinking of buying Sygnia Ltd JSE:SYG now. They are approaching their all-time low surely this is not a bad company and should bounce at these levels? Thoughts?

Interview with Charles Savage, CEO of Easy Equities
Spreadsheet Ranger replied to quintus26's topic in General Chat
I heard there was a mention of an E-book. @quintus26 you where referring to the PW one right https://platinumwealth.co.za/forum/ebooks.php -
Hey Johnny, I have tested Shapeshift afterwards when it was mentioned here and I must be honest I like both, both are backed by credible people. Shapeshift is Erik Voorhees who is quite a known name in the crypto space. Then Changelly is backed by MinerGate also a very known and trusted pool. After testing the Jaxx wallet I am a little more biased towards Shapeshift now, simply because it is built in. For these reading this and have no idea what we are talking about: ShapeShift is a web and API platform formed in August of 2014 to provide instant Bitcoin and altcoin conversion with the maximum level of consumer protection and efficiency. Users do not have to create accounts, deposit funds, or provide private personal information. This keeps the users safe from identity or financial theft – a critical improvement in exchange technology. The company has a strict “No Fiat” policy, meaning it does not use banks or political currencies anywhere in its operations.

Since the other tutorial on how to buy Ethereum I have been looking for a reliable wallet so I decided to test drive a few Ethereum wallets to see which one is the best in my opinion. The first wallet I used was the official Ethereum wallet - Ethereum + Mist I like the wallet is has all the bells and whistles and for that reason I do not recommend this wallet if you just want to own some Ether right now. Ethereum is very different to bitcoin. The first thing about Ethereum is that it is not just a digital currency. It is a blockchain-based platform with many aspects. It features smart contracts, the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and it uses its currency called Ether for peer-to-peer contracts. Ethereum’s smart contracts use blockchain stored applications for contract negotiation and facilitation. The benefit of these contracts is that the blockchain provides a decentralized way to verify and enforce them. Thus enabling you to create applications that run exactly as programmed without any possibility of downtime, censorship, fraud or third party interference. Ethereum’s smart contracts aim to provide greater security than traditional contracts and bring down the associated costs. The smart contract applications are powered by ether, Ethereum’s blockchain based cryptocurrency. Ether, as well as other crypto-assets, are held in the Ethereum Wallet, which allows you to create and use smart contracts. You as Joe Public just want an easy way to buy, store and send Ether. Enter the world of Jaxx, I ended up using this wallet for my Ethereum storage. It is incredibly easy to set up on your phone, tablet, desktop or Apple device. I installed it on my phone first and then paired it with the desktop app and it worked seamlessly. All keys are created on your local device and never sent to any servers. This means you have full control of your wallet and Jaxx neither holds nor has access to your funds. Before I ended up with Jaxx I tested Coinbase as well. Coinbase supplies an Ethereum wallet as well as a Bitcoin wallet. Coinbase’s wallet is simple to set up and very easy to use, however it has a few limitations you’ll need to be aware of: The company holds the private key of the wallet for you. This means you’re not in control of your funds and Coinbase can decide to shut down your account if they want to. There were cases in the past that Coinbase shut down user accounts do to illegal activity. The Coinbase ETH wallet doesn’t support ETC (Ethereum Classic). The Coinbase wallet was easy to use, but the risk is too much I would not recommend it. Another wallet that I tested was the Exodus wallet, Exodus is a Bitcoin and Altcoin desktop wallet with a beautiful design and an intuitive interface. When it comes to limitations for exodus keep in mind that it’s not 100% open source. Many components inside Exodus are open source, but not all of them. This means that the code doesn’t get reviewed in full by the community. Also the wallet is currently available only in a desktop version (no mobile version yet). Like Coinbase, Exodus does not support ETC only ETH. However, unlike Coinbase, Exodus is an independent wallet that stores the private key on your machine and not on any external sever. This means you have full control (and full responsibility) for your coins. Even though Ethereum has been around for a few years, as you can see from the variety above it’s not as popular as Bitcoin (yet). However, since Ethereum’s price is on the rise lately I guess we will be seeing more Ethereum wallets and exchange support for this currency soon. I am sure @BitcoinZAR will be able to give some feedback on what hardware wallets to use for storing Ethereum.

Hello new person. Welcome to the forum.

My biggest concern is that the industry will go to hell if EE fails, meaning they use it has justification to rise prices more. Pretty much echoing what Simon said, but I mean if we think about it EE is the closest we as South African have come to affordable investing if they are gone... I really hope that ZARX takes off as he seems to be in favor of low fee investing. @Groovy what's your take here?

It appears that takealot has now switched to using I-pay instead assuming payfast's fees where too high. https://www.payfast.co.za/2015/06/05/10-awesome-places-to-spend-bitcoin-in-south-africa/

I actually want to read this today - I received it in an E-mail, I assume we all did. Hi Recently EasyEquities’ holding company, Purple Group, announced its interim financial results. As you know I am incredibly proud of the growth we’ve seen over the last few years, and of all of you who have not only joined in our our journey but have created your own, towards financial empowerment, on our platform. A lot of you have mentioned that you’re interested in a little more insight behind the numbers. That’s why I thought you might want to read this in depth look at Purple Group by financial anayst Mark Ingham. Ingham is well-known in local markets and has consulted with some major international companies such as Morgan Stanley and RK Equity as well. His client base includes institutional fund managers, stock brokers, private equity investors and listed corporations. In this analysis, Ingham draws some similarities between Purple Group and companies like Tesla and notes that EasyEquities is increasingly the flagship growth brand. I want to emphasize that what you think counts – more than you know! So I encourage you all to attend our next AGM (if last year’s is anything to go by, get ready for something different and no doubt fun). Come meet the Purplistas, ask questions and learn more about what it is we do here. Thanks, Charles Savage CEO, EasyEquities -- Here is the link to Mark's post: https://goo.gl/wdJxmX

If I am not mistaken takealot now accepts bitcoin. Naspers owns Luno if I recall correctly, and Naspers owns takealot so they added the whole bitcoin payment option. (I'm speaking under correction, bitcoinzar will need to interfene here) But ultimately you are right when it comes to South Africa we are a bit behind in terms of cryptocurreincies as tender, but overseas bitcoin is widely accepted so that should funnel down to us.

It's a pleasure
-
Man I wish there was a way to short on EE. I'm telling you, if you have the ability to short some stocks this JSE is offering exceptional potential at the moment.
-
It is a pleasure. Again not advice etc etc, but personally if I was to buy them now and commit to hold them for 4 years, I would buy at the current price, it might dip to below 850, but in the end of the day by the time 47 months has passed their price will be considerably more rendering your entry price moot. (Again, this is just my opinion - do not buy based on what I believe. I can be wrong.)
-
Definitely, it's a well diversified company with exceptional management. Will it dip in price, certainly will I be timing the dip, not at all. This is my favorite stock on the JSE I buy a little of them each month. I am holding it for retirement so one must take into account my goal and risk evaluation is a bit different than someone wanting to sell this stock short term. For me the management is incredible and the company is very very very well diversified, hell they even make mattresses if I remember correctly, they also have chemicals and forestry besides the main logistics. So for a long term hold I do believe this is a company that will continue to grow. ------ The whole don't take my advice, do your own research disclaimer etc etc

I just love KAP so much, it's the one stock that I can always trust. @Groovy whats up on your side any interesting developments or new bargains?

Phosa Accepts Nomination to Run for ANC President
Spreadsheet Ranger replied to Outlook's topic in News and Current Affairs
A bit harsh, but understandable given our current state of affairs. I have never heard of Phosa so not sure if he will actually stand a chance compared to someone like Cyril. -
Does shape shift have any fees? How does it compare to changelly I'm looking at buying a few other alt coins as well, currently I do it all via changelly

You have no idea! My only regret, I should have bought more. This tweet sums it up for me - https://twitter.com/NMD220/status/858023317856538624
