  1. Sea Harvest IPO has set a price range of R12 to R14.50.
  2. Our Fed, Who art in Washington, Yellen be thy name, Thy printing come, Thy will be done by Ben as it is with Janet, Give us this day our daily billion, and increase our debts, As we bail out our debtors, And lead us not into inflation, But deliver us from down markets, For thine is the printing, the bubble and the euphoria, Forever till taper. Amen
  3. I suspect the capital gains on the value of the property will far out weigh the interest earned. Perhaps someone can do a proper analysis for us.
  4. Overview of Sea Harvest http://66.8.16.130/SENS_20170306_S382249.pdf
  5. Seems Sea Harvest Group Limited will be listing as well. The JSE has granted Sea Harvest a listing of up to 236 696 240 Shares in the “Farming, Fishing and Plantation” sector of the Main Board of the JSE under the abbreviated name “SeaHarvst” under share code: SHG and ISIN: ZAE000240198, from the commencement of trade on Thursday, 23 March 2017, subject to Sea Harvest having satisfied the Listings Requirements regarding the minimum liquidity free-float requirements.
  6. Someone is definitely selling AXL and taking profit.
  7. 03/02/2017
  8. Definitely and like @SimonPB said; Woolies will outlast all of us so perfect for a long term portfolio.
  9. Our resident grapher! Thanks. I will go do some research about each sector and post you the stocks.
  10. I think KAP has potential to be a long term hold, very good management and diversified to the brim they even make mattresses. My personal long holds are DbxWD, NFEMOM and PSG (So far they produced a couple of stunning companies so hopefully they will continue). Shoprite + Woolies would be a killer combo, then you have the masses, the middle income and the rich bastads. Full turkey. @Groovy, you like the food sector it seems, what do you think would be a good long term stock for that sector? I read a article long time ago about a strategy the one guy follows; He bought equally weighted the 1 best performing stock from each sector as his retirement portfolio, reviewed every 7 years. To me that sounds quite interesting. I would love if someone wants to take the time and draw up a 15 year graph of such a portfolio. @DieWerner you posted some comparison graphs in the stock watch thread... Wink Wink.
  11. They have a cool logo though
  12. @Groovy and Spreadsheet ranger I see @Dancshares actually mentioned something I did not think about. Kaap Agri will be competing against Builders Warehouse ey. Not a light foe by any means. In other words Massmart correct?
  13. @Groovy should have some insight.
  14. 02/27/2017
  15. I used to buy stuff from classifieds like Cape Ads this was before Gumtree and the likes. Then I would sell it at a slight markup poor man's trading I suppose, but it bought a few fancy dinners here and there. I had a good margin on refrigerators had a small Bakkie and a friend's storage (Unused garage) I would search for good refrigerators, but on special examples would be restaurant auctions and people moving flats, but they cannot ship the fridge back to JHB for instance so they sell it for very cheap to just get rid of it. I still think there is money to be made in buying and selling second hand goods.
  16. Most likely to do with the Retail sector as a whole https://www.businesslive.co.za/bd/companies/retail-and-consumer/2017-02-13-dis-chem-turnover-fails-to-move-investors/
  17. I hope this makes more sense: From: http://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/beta.asp
  18. Imagine they do this, this year. EE is really a market disruptor if you think about it. Cheap investing + RA's assuming will also be cheap + International stock! Bring me Vanguard!
  19. 02/24/2017
  20. My question as well. I wonder if EE will be offering them?
  21. 02/23/2017
  22. 02/22/2017
  23. Dividend Withholding tax is now 20% was 15%
  24. Can anyone think of any South African websites that were a really good idea or did something better than their competition did, but failed? Internationally (Primarily US) there seems to be ample examples, but I often wonder about our own history in this space surely there where some smart SA web entrepreneurs which would make for some interesting stories? I wanted to create this thread, because I could only think of the common examples: theglobe.com google vs yahoo facebook vs myspace snapchap & instagram vs vine MSN messenger vs skype/facebook/instant messaging apps veoh or vimeo vs Youtube, back in the day veoh and vimeo was alot better than youtube. It offered HD streaming before youtube did.
