Do you know how much they own in Premier Fishing? My logic would be that if Premier Fishing does very good then you will get a better return being a direct shareholder of Premier fishing than a proxy shareholder in African Equity Empowerment Investments Ltd Same reason why I own Capitec and Curro directly instead of owning PSG. That is just my take, would be interesting to hear what other's views are on this. /Welcome to the Forum @Groovy

VBS Mutual Bank to list on the JSE JOHANNESBURG – VBS Mutual Bank, which made headlines last year after it gave South African President Jacob Zuma a loan to reimburse the state for upgrades to his personal home, plans to list on the Johannesburg Securities Exchange, its chairman said on Thursday. The bank lent Zuma R7.8 million after a court ordered he pay back part of the $16 million the state spent on his luxury home. The lender, whose clients are mostly rural homebuilders or small businesses, plans to expand from only four branches now to a nationwide network, chairman Tshifhiwa Matodzi said. “It is a no-brainer to list within the next 3 years,” Matodzi told Reuters after a media conference. VBS has its roots in a 1980s building society based in Venda, a rural area given a degree of autonomy by the apartheid government before 1994. It has 30 000 clients with deposits of around R800 million. “First we will convert from a mutual bank to a bank, then we will list on the JSE,” Matodzi said, adding that the institution wanted to broaden its shareholder base. Though VBS got plenty of publicity for the loan to Zuma last year, the president is not among VBS’s biggest debtors, having “maybe one of the top-20 home loans,” said Matodzi. The Public Investment Corporation, Africa‘s largest fund manager with more than $120 billion of South African government employee pension assets under its custody, is a major shareholder in VBS, holding 25%. The lender on Thursday signed an agreement with a church group to issue cards to the church’s 6.8 million members. Though they will not automatically bank with VBS, the bank said it hoped to sign them all up eventually.

Did you buy after posting this? Just wondering, because I considered doing the same when I saw this post, but then I got busy with work, now its currently at 41 cents. I don't often get lucky like this... I bought shortly after at 46 cents. But I see now EE has liquidity problems so I cannot buy more.

Come on!

If any of you are a Google Partner would it be possible to generate me a google adwords coupon that I can use to get started with adwords?

I think they will be a exchange like the JSE is, but will probably have a spin off sister company that acts as a broker, an umbrella company maybe? Either way would be neat if they can join here.

Something I would really like is an ETF that tracks the Bitcoin price.
-
Will Zar X be a listed exchange like the JSE?
-
I am rooting for Zar X

Thanks for this! I always wondered about it, but end up being to tired to go google myself.

Hell! I like this guy. I hope the JSE gets a beating. Would PW incorporate ZarX listings into the market data section when they launch?

On January 11, President Jacob Zuma signed several Bills into law, including seven tax and employment-related amendments. He said at the time that he was confident that the amended laws would “enhance government service delivery programmes” and improve the work of the departments and institutions that are custodians of these laws. Here is the guide: http://www.biznews.com/sa-investing/2017/01/20/zuma-new-tax-laws/

Sounds very interesting. Seems the JSE does not like the possibility of competition at all. Judging by what I read about ZarX and now 4AX. How does 4AX compare to ZarX and how do they compare to the JSE? In terms of, how does it work?

I use the baskets in our company account with EE, its easy since I can buy Bi-annually and just leave it. Do not have it in my TFSA there I have DbXWD, PTXTEN and PREFTRAX.

I still buy the entrepreneur magazine each month, not for the content so much, but rather for the "relaxing" side of it hell sitting with computer screens the whole day, it is quite nice to switch off a bit and grab a magazine to read and they are not all that bad I still learn quite bit from them probably because they did all the googling on my behalf and the result is a magazine with filtered content that is relevant, that is how I see it. I still prefer a good book, but for light reading and like @Sebulba mentioned, reading a magazine on the loo is right up there with chocolate cake and a green day on the markets.

I guess they would be a strategic company for Naspers? Given Naspers interest in china and bitcoin being mainly china based lately, what I mean by that is from what I read here: http://www.theepochtimes.com/n3/2080774-what-is-going-on-with-china-and-bitcoin/ and https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/largest-bitcoin-stash/ This stood out to me: “If you are willing to get capital out of China badly, then you are willing to take the risk,” Luria says. I can imagine Naspers would like to have control of their own bitcoin exchange...

I see bitx.co has now changed and is now luno.com

I have been watching curro and capitec for some time now and thought would it be better to buy PSGGroup for the long term than to buy the two shares risk wise? I might be wrong but to me PSGGroup feels like a good "basket" buy since you get the underlying performance of all their investments including capitec and curro correct? So my thinking was, maybe Capitec wont be this good for the next 15 years, but PSGGroup for the next 15 years should be able to innovate and built new businesses over the time? Or am I being silly here.

Joe has a EasyEquities account with an TFSA that he maxed out each year since he was 25. His username is NotAnAverageJoe and his password is 'secret' Joe also owns a 2011 GTI which is paid off. ---Elaboration on the TFSA and EasyEquities account Joe has invested R100 000 in his investment account it is now worth R230 000 Joe has invested 30 000 each year in his TFSA assuming Joe is now 40. His TFSA invested is R450 000 and that total is worth R780 000 today. (I hope we can use those figures?) Edit: I made Joe 40 old.
