  1. Sweden - It's been 17 long months but Mercedes-Benz has finally revealed its new mid-sized bakkie in the form of two concept cars at its launch in Stockholm, Sweden. The new X-Class marks the first bakkie from a premium German automaker, at least in recent times. The new dual-cab Mercedes-Benz bakkie has been depicted in two distinct body styles; the Stylish Explorer (more focused on design) and its Powerful Adventurer (a more rugged variant) The new Mercedes-Benz bakkie shares architecture with the new Nissan NP300, though from images it's clearly designed by Daimler. 2. WTF is that? Holy hell. My eyes will never be the same. (It's all US companies thou so not bothered) Once you get past the eye bleed you will notice that at no 41 is Steinhoff which is interesting. Bahahahaha you made it to 41!!! There has to be some sort of an award for this; its not often you come accross a reputable website in 2016 that looks that awful. It often times makes me wonder what exactly is the story there? Developer decided fck it and the project manager was forced to take over? Designer off on leave and backup backend dev had to slash and hack to meet the deadline? What happened it will bother me forever.

  6. I use base64 to save my sprites like the small CSS stuff that I want to cache with the css in the browser like I'll put my common UI icons in base64 in my CSS, then let that whole chunk get cached by the browser. As for webp, I don't think there is anything out there that can match it you can't tell the difference between a webp image and a PNG with alpa yet the one is 900kb and the other one is 33Kb. I just love it, I see firefox did not want to add it due to "browser politics" Google did not want to implement one of Mozilla's technologies a few years back so Mozilla decided they won't support webp so they are killing the web by being children. #ChromeIsLife
  7. Do any of you use the webp image format in your websites yet? I love it I absolutely do, but now I have this irritating issue of neither firefox nor EDGE supporting the webp image format. So now I am lost as to what would be the best way forward I used to like base64 but it's like 30% larger than the original so for years I just sticked to jpeg for web and use PNGs only if I really really need the transparency then webp came along and it was love at first sight, but now it only works in Blink browsers so I need to figure out a way to make it work for all browsers. I was thinking of this: However I get the feeling that this will download both versions and is a bad idea?
  8. I might need to pick some curro up again sold mine at 40 something a while back. I should have kept them damn you Taste holdings!

  14. Dinge lyk pikdonker vir 7de Laan se toekoms . . . I will need to actually give this some serious thought. Especially log in credentials to all my "assets"
  16. Out of curiosity; What are the most ideal stocks to add to my portfolio to "cash in" on the downgrade end of year? I have been filling up on Dbx to a point where I now have a ridiculous amount of money in those ETFs that I am actually feeling uncomfortable and have to constantly remind myself that I do not own 2 shares I own 2 ETFs consisting of 100's of shares thus I am diversified.
  17. I want to kill myself when I look at my Dbx portfolio DbxWD - RED DbxJP - Surprisingly RED DbxEU - RED DbxUK - RED DbChin - Soaring Green (Sold it now with this Deutsche Bank's verge of collapse)
  18. It’s the first time that Cell C’s full financial results have been made public. For someone also in the airtime industry this is quite insightful.
  19. Ever considered switching from being a full-timer to a freelancer (or vice versa) but couldn't reach a verdict? We know a little something that might help you with that. Caisa Nilaseca has compared the pros and cons of being a freelancer vs full-time designer in 6 illustrations for DesignTaxi. From not having colleagues to talk to when at home to working anytime you want - the yays and nays vary. Take a look at her illustrations below, maybe they'll help you reach a decision. 20. I hear what you are saying, I am just thinking of ways to get a bit of cash/currency type investments into my portfolio for the sake of more diversification and I am totally betting on the rand tanking which it has been doing since forever thus a good bet in my mind would be to go long on anything ZAR/... The FNB account crossed my mind, but I want to stick to EasyEquities so a ETN was my next best thought
  21. I thought it might be good to have a thread all about the infamous ETN. I want to buy the ABSA NewWave GBP Exchange Trade Note. My reasoning is that I feel our ZAR has a one way trajectory and that is down (or up in currency terms) so hedging against the ZAR by buying pounds just sounds right to me? The reason why I picked or am thinking of picking the GBP over the USD is because of the recent #Brexit dip and I am sure they will recover that plus our currency's downfall should equal profit. I am thinking of buying the ZAR/GBP ETN and then once that has recovered I will move it all accross to the ZAR/USD (NewWave USD Exchange Traded Note) since the US is and will be the strongest economy in the world as long as the world works like it does now ie Banks. So now my question comes; What are the pitfalls here? The only ones I see is if ABSA collapses and to me that seems unlikely, but then again so dit the collapse of Deutsche Bank.
  22. JOHANNESBURG – South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC) said on Saturday a report by an anti-graft watchdog into allegations of political interference by friends of President Jacob Zuma was being held at parliament for safe keeping. The release of the potentially explosive report, which the outgoing head of the agency Thuli Madonsela had planned to make public on her last day in office on Friday, was delayed because of a court application by Zuma asking that it remain under wraps so he could review evidence and question witnesses. The ANC said in a statement the report had been handed to parliament and would be given to the new Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, on Monday when she assumes office. “The report, as requested, is currently being kept under lock and key in parliament,” the ANC said. The report looked at the alleged influence of the wealthy, Indian-born Gupta family – close friends of Zuma – regarding the appointment of cabinet ministers and other occupants of high office. Madonsela had announced the probe in June. The family, which has wide-ranging business interests in South Africa, and the president have denied any wrongdoing. The report comes at a time when Zuma’s government is reeling after prosecutors this week ordered Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan to appear in court on Nov. 2 to hear fraud charges against him. Gordhan on Friday dismissed the charges as “frivolous”. Madonsela interviewed Gordhan, former finance minister Nhlanhla Nene and deputy finance minister Mcebisi Jonas as part of the probe on Zuma’s links with the Guptas, local media said. In March this year Jonas said the Guptas had offered him Nene’s job, an allegation that led to calls for Zuma to resign. Madonsela has become something of a folk hero in South Africa for her investigations of the rich and powerful and won public support for taking Zuma to task over the $16 million of state money spent upgrading his private home. 23. Would be a damn shame if it comes to that, STXIND is quite nice (the underlying companies). Although the other ETFs (CTOP50/CSEW40, that momentum one, DIVTRX and this new S&P500) seems more appealing to me now going forward the next 10 years compared to the STXIND's next 10 years?
  24. CTOP50 is capped at 10% Should look at STXIND... 32%. At 36% we won't be able to use it in our TFSA's anymore What happens to people who have existing TFSA's with IND assuming it goes to 36% or do you think they will introduce caps before that point?
