  1. Joe is 40 years of age he is divorced and remarried. His previous wife was less than perfect and the relationship was toxic so they separated, but have 1 kid together Mary (female). His new wife is very nice and they have 2 children together (mark and scott) they love their older sister. (I wanted to make his age 40, but oulook's sum is based on 30.) Edit: I also updated Joe's age, thanks Outlook.

  10. I have had the DbxJP ETF now since late 2013 and it has been a stunning ETF, but this past year the shine seemed to wear off and now I am just wondering where I can get more information about the Japanese Economy and what impacts them since I will be honest I bought this eft back then without much knowledge just based on recommendations and I was lucky as this was a stunning performer, but now being a little bit more grown up and having slightly more money at my disposal I want to learn/ understand more about this ETF and what makes it tick. Do any of you own JSE : DBxJP Benchmark Index The Index is a free float-adjusted market capitalisation index that is designed to measure developed market equity performance in Japan, representing companies with a total market capitalisation of approximately US$3 trillion. The MSCI Japan Index is recognised as a barometer of the Japanese economy and as the holder of db x-trackers MSCI Japan Index ETF; an investor will essentially track the Japanese equity markets. 11. I saw this tweet just now might be of relevance. Listed Property Sector: This note provides a summary of the equity raised in the sector since 2010 and the performance of listed property, equities, bonds and cash over different time periods. It explores correlations amongst these asset classes and the correlation amongst the constituents of the J253 index. It also provides an illustration of the benefit of including listed property in a balanced portfolio. Here is the PDF (Click this Link)
  12. I think this is a very good gesture to do since most domestic workers earn way too little to have any sort of income protection or cover. For R95 you can make a real difference in your domestic workers life.
  13. I did hence my post they all claim investing for income and I ran the numbers on his site. I do not see it happening, capital growth yea, income from dividends to live from, not unless he inherits a few $$$ From his post: That just strengthens my suspicions
  14. That is what I was thinking, I often hear people say they are investing for income, but in practice that does not seem very viable on the stock market I mean you will need a few bar and then you will barely get back R10k per month if you are lucky in which case their are other investments that I would do if I have a few bar sitting around I would buy physical apartments and rent them out that rent should beat the DIVTRX. I actually hope here is someone with some time on their hands that can work out what it would take to create an income portfolio and what the alternatives is. What it takes; Investing for income.
  15. Well I guess you will need far more than one million invested if you want to draw an income from DIVTRX since R1 million today equal about 34000 shares and they pay about 23 cents per share every quarter so you will get less than R9000 per quarter. Is my math right? It sounds wrong maybe I missed a zero somewhere
  16. That makes sense. I am going to swap out my PTXTEN for GLPROP since I have CTOP50 which has some of the PTXTEN stocks. Then I am going to sell my STXIND and get either DIVTRX or NFEMOM, I am leaning towards NFEMOM. My focus at the moment is Capital Growth because I am quite young myself and I just feel 60K in a capital growth strategy for the next 5 - 8 years will be better because then I will have a much larger sum to invest in DIVTRX and the likes to shift over to an income portfolio at least that is what I think? R1 million invested in DIVTRX should provide you with some money to live off compared to R60k and that R60k would grow more in the 5 - 8 years in a capital growth focused ETF than in DVTRX I assume?
  17. Same boat it was a good ride since 2011, but the last two years made me think long and hard about this ETF. With what are you going to replace it or are you going to use the funds to add to your existing stocks/Etfs?
  18. The JSE seems to be doing quite lekker so far into 2017, I just hope this sticks since I already saw some bad news with Tencent which means Naspers is bound to take a dive and that will mean most of our ETFs will take a knock, my poor Satrix Indi is beaten down.
  19. Socially responsible investing (SRI), or Social investment is also known as sustainable, socially conscious, "green" or ethical investing, is any investment strategy which seeks to consider both financial return and social good to bring about a social change. Do any of you take this into consideration when investing, example I know some people who refuses to invest in mines due to the bad conditions the workers are put through majority of the time as an example. Just curious to know what most think about this and if you feel this is your responsibility to be conscious about these things it normally feels a bit counter intuitive to me since I want the highest possible "legal" return on my investment since at the end of the day it is my future so if the company is operating legally then I feel I am allowed to invest in said company without the feeling of being judged. That said if the company refuses to pay workers and have a track record of shady dealings then of course I won't invest, but then again should that company be allowed to list in the first place? Surely there is a vetting process done before listing and during to ensure that a company needs to uphold certain principles to ensure me as an investor can sleep soundly knowing I invested in one of the JSE listed companies. Just curious what the general opinion is out there how do you approach this if at all?

  22. I see they have this FAQ - https://support.easyequities.co.za/support/solutions/articles/5000622226-what-costs-or-fees-am-i-charged-for-using-easyequities- However on my account things appears a bit different. From the file above: From my account: It appears Interest on cash is 7.00%? - I cant seem to find the section in the FAQ does that reflects that. There is a fee I cannot seem to find in the above documentation called "Cash Management Fee". Perhaps I do not fully understand or I might be looking at the wrong documentation, @jonobruton would you mind just clarifying a little bit how the above are calculated?
