So to me it looks like SATRIX is firing shots at: Sygnia's DBXWD vs MSCI World Feeder Cloud Atlas' AMIB50 vs MSCI Emerging Markets CoreShare's S&P500 vs S&P500 We can only hope they'll come in with lower costs than the existing ETFs. And now we just need to wait for ABSA to release their Value and Low Volatility ETFs (or even competitors to these?)

That's an interesting question. No idea but if I had to take a guess it will probably be seen as money leaving the country and taxed according to that. Not sure if capital gains will be applicable should you bring it back though. But there might be taxes from offshore governments. On the other hand, if we're using a local exchange like EE and they don't have a company based offshore it'll probably be taxed exactly the same as investing in local equities. Wonder if SARS knows?

Pushing all your savings into cryptocurrencies is not a smart move IMO, but just be informed when you do it. Money isn't just created out of thin air and like everything trading you make money by taking it from somebody else. Liquidity is a reality and one day you may end up with 1000 BTC or ETH coins, but if nobody actually wants them from you you're stuck with them. The next 5 years are going to be very interesting. We're not there yet but the financial world will probably look a lot different than it does today.

The problem with Money Maximiser is that if you drop 1c below R100,000 you start earning an interest of jack, 0, nothing, boggerall. What I do is keep R5000-R10000 in a Money on Call for immediate access, the rest of my emergency fund in a 32-day account and a large credit limit on my credit card. The idea being that if I suddenly need a lot of cash I can use the credit card and because it is 55-days interest-free I have enough time to give notice on the 32-day account. It'll work in theory but luckily I've never had to "test" my setup before 7-day notice account is another option.
