http://www.fin24.com/Companies/Mining/gold-diggers-turn-to-waste-dump-for-nuggets-as-output-drops-20160921 [...The project will add about 100 000 ounces of gold to Sibanye’s production, or 6.3% of its total forecast for 2016 at a cost of about $476 an ounce, compared with the company’s $908 cost of mining in the first half of this year. Gold currently trades at about $1 316 an ounce. “Once it’s up and running, it’s a money-printing machine,” said Rene Hochreiter, a Johannesburg-based analyst at Noah Capital Markets. “But the big problem is the up-front capital costs. Ten billion rand sounds expensive.” Sibanye plans to recover the project’s capital costs by focusing on four high-grade dumps for the first 18 years, which would generate an internal rate of return of about 15% annually, according to Stuart. After that, the project would generate “annuity income” for as long as 35 years as the company works through its remaining dumps...]

Groupon emailed me a 20% off voucher, only valid until 13h00 today. I've only ever bought food/drink vouchers from them, it's the only thing that's actually a bargain.

MTN Zakhele Futhi scheme launched today
DieWerner replied to Spreadsheet Ranger's topic in News and Current Affairs
turns out it's not the same as the Existing share, "MTN Zakhele". "MTN Zakhele Futhi" is something new, with different prices. Why create a new one, if the existing one hasn't grown over the last year, and MTN's price keeps on falling -
MTN Zakhele Futhi scheme launched today

Did some googling, turns out Multichoice has their own BEE exclusive scheme "Phuthuma Nathi" http://businesstech.co.za/news/media/128401/how-rich-you-would-be-if-you-invested-in-multichoices-bee-scheme/ https://www.phuthuma.co.za/FAQ.aspx From the article: "The Phuthuma Nathi 2 share price closed at R148 per share on 24 June 2016. So, if a shareholder bought Phuthuma Nathi 2 shares in 2007 for R1,000 at R10 per share, the shares would be worth R14,800 on 24 June 2016. In addition, the shareholder would have received dividends amounting to R5,418 for their R1,000 investment to date. This means a shareholder who invested R1,000 in Phuthuma Nathi in 2007 would have made a total of R20,218 – 20 times over the past nine years" -

Is this the same as the existing MTN Zakhele share? Which now is trading at R62.50, how can this "Mteto Nyati" say that they can be bought for R20? What's the catch? Buy for R20, sell for R62.50... I'll buy some through the tea-lady at work then! -

Does anyone here use any kind of paid or free service to get INSTANT alerts (sms, email, other...) when the price of a share makes a sudden and major move??? This morning NFEMOM, part of TFSA, shot up 12.9% and then suddenly dropped again. It was at 3011 on Friday, and opened at 3400 this morning and stayed there until 10h00. An hour where one could have sold for a good profit, and bought in again an hour later... It happened to ASHMID last week as well, also 11% or something: What the hell?

We have two people at work doing Unisa studies, no major complaints from them

NFGOVI does not a resource ETF make You should be comparing STXRES and GIVRES, no? I was comparing those two because it was mentioned as such: anyway, easy enough to do, here you go: The comparison looks great if you were lucky enough to buy a year ago, not so much if you got in only a month ago...
