Graphics cards designed for cryptocurrency mining coming soon

Nvidia and AMD plan to release graphics cards designed specifically for cryptocurrency miners, according to a report from DigiTimes.

This follows a global shortage of AMD’s Radeon RX 580 and RX 570 cards, which are extremely popular among miners due to their efficiency and mining power.

Mining cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum and Bitcoin allows users to earn a passive income by dedicating their GPU processing power to mine blocks on a blockchain.

The report stated that due to the growing demand for mining GPUs, Nvidia and AMD are working on cards that will have reduced specifications and costs, and maximise cryptocurrency mining efficiency.

The mining-focused cards will reportedly be available at the end of June 2017 and will have a warranty of 90 days.

The report said AMD will launch redesigned entry-level RX 400-series cards for miners, while Nvidia will release a GeForce GTX 1060-based card for mining.

Now I wonder would that be a new 1060 or will they merely OC the memory of the current 1060 range and add a markup?

If I had to guess it will be a 1060 with most safety parameters disabled, but will cost much less due to the 90 days warranty that comes with it.

Come to think of it, won't this be bad for miners, I mean, the market will get flooded with cheaper cards, so many more people will start mining

Hey Guys,

We have just launched the GALAXY 6000. A 6 card mining rig based on the AMD RX570 mining specific card.

Stock is currently being produced and will land 11 September 2017.

80 rigs available on pre-order.

I do not see the RX470/570 being profitable anymore come September. Not when they will be competing with the new 20xx series cards. (I say that as a owner of RX470/570 rigs)

That and the 4Gb/8Gb ram seems like a an issue going forward.
