  1. I'll start up a few new threads as soon as we have sold our property to discuss investment options. I will follow the investment guide for some tips. Keeping in mind my short term investment strategy would only be for 2 years. My plan is as follows: First R50k into Emergency fund (R10k savings account, R40k 32 day Money Market account) Thereafter R3000 per month into TFSA, R8000 per month into ETF's, R2000 per month into stocks, R2000 per month into cryptocurrencies. Any remaining disposable income into the savings account.
  2. I need some advice on a current opportunity available to me. Our situation is that we have roughly R300k debt excluding our house. We are considering selling our house as my company will pay for rental accommodation closer to my current project. The project's remaining duration is 27 months. The rental accommodation would be in a much better area than where we are currently living. We should make about R300k off the sale of our house. The idea is that we settle all our debt. We would have an extra R15k per month after all our usual monthly expenses. ie, school fees, fuel, food, insurances, etc. The plan is to save for 2 years and buy in the same area/suburb in which the rental accommodation would be. If we get a buyer soon, potential savings could be R360k (24 x R15k) excluding bonuses. This would be used as a deposit towards the new house. I think the main benefit would be reducing the interest payable on our existing debt.
  3. I added some TAS at R1.70. Let's see what happens in the next few months.
  4. In 2003 I wrote off my car without being insured. I ended up paying 2 years extra for a car that didn't exist anymore. Now you'll never get me without comprehensive motorvehicle insurance. Household contents insured. House buildings insured, Life insured. Only thing thats not insured are our cellphones. R450pm to have 3 phones insured (R9k, R5k & R4k). I have a few spare "just-in-case" phones that will be used as a back-up.
  5. We should have our first group meeting in person to figure out how to use Skype in order to have our first investment meeting.
  6. I'm probably the only sucker here. Roughly my monthly account for the last few months: Line 1 (My Note 4) Smart L sub R530, plus handset installment (for Note 4 & Gear S) R470 plus R650 data bundles (7Gb total) = R1650 Line 2 (SO S4 mini) uChoose Flexi 500 R500 Line 3 Wi-fi router 10Gb+10Gb R500 Total R2650 Changes implemented: Line 1 New employer will settle R4000 handset account and move call account to business. My contribution = R0 Line 2 (SO) Upgraded to a A3 2016 on a uChoose Flexi 350 = R400 Line 3 (Data) stays at R500 until October then will upgrade to a 3 or 5Gb topup contract. This will make my cellphone costs roughly R700 to R800 pm. Added to this will be an uncapped ADSL line, so probably R700. Making my new cellphone & data expense about R1500. My biggest problem is my 2 sons who received devices in December. It seems as if they are trying to download the whole internet. So now I switch off the wi-fi router when they are not where I can see them.
  7. I vote for R250. It is easier for me to put aside R250 per month that R500. At a later stage we can look at increasing our minimum contributions.
  8. Sunday at 3 sounds good. Now I just to to figure out how Skype works.
