    Interesting, which ETFs?
  3. I heard somewhere it might be because Capitec doesn't rely on the old legacy systems the other banks have to use? No idea how Capitec does it.
  4. I'll be honest Purply, it really hurts me looking at those investments and they are not even mine
  5. That would make the forum sound like a job ;-)

Here is the latest factsheet. And here is the marketing sheet Does not need to be Sygnia just want to know if anybody else is using something similar. I use this: http://www.stanlib.com/MultiManager/Documents/Factsheets/Retail/2016/Nov/STANLIB%20Multi-Manager%20All%20Stars%20Fund%20of%20Funds_Nov%202016.pdf Looks similar as far as diversification goes That doesn't have international equities though right? It does, up to a maximum of 25% Is that according to the rand hedged stocks or actual international stocks? Hate it when they only show the top 10 :/

I'm not personally using it. Wasn't a fan of the additional fees on top of brokerage.

Sorry, I was incorrect in saying CGT. Dividend yield tax

Well, I'll be honest I'll only be able to see when I get a dividend from DBXWD which I haven't yet. But I read this somewhere: Section 64 (n) of the Income Tax Act provides for a rebate to be deducted from the local dividends tax payable in respect of a foreign dividend if that dividend was subject to foreign tax. Thus it gets taxed there first? Maybe someone that has received dividends can clear it up?
  15. I use 22seven to monitor transactions and duplicate it to stealthywealth's excel sheet...love the simplicity of it.

In my view, kind of, yes. It is still rand denominated and the government still munches away on it with CGT in your TFSA as far as I know. For me, offshore means physically moving it offshore. Although this isn't relevant in regards to your TFSA..thus a bit off topic
  17. Found a link to it on the mybroadband forums I registered because I've gotten quite a bit of useful information from it already and wouldn't mind sharing my thoughts and experiences as well. Maybe it will help someone, you never know!
  18. That sounds pretty awesome. I had to dig deep to get all of this information and it took a couple of months of research. I'm 100% sure you will help A LOT of people with this That at the end of the day is the goal. This platform as one purpose and that is to become the educational hub for South Africans interested in finance and the Average Joe, because one way we can make a major difference in the future of this country is by enabling more and more people to get into a position of knowledge where they can take control of their own finances. Like you say this will take some deep digging, I am by no means a financial expert. I am a educator more than anything else so I will have a lot to learn and learn and learn and research, but I am determined to create this guide and with the help of EasyEquities and Magda just a message away I am confident that it would be something worth while to put out there once completed. I will probably bounce a few questions of existing members here on the forum as well as part of the research. For example slightly unrelated but on the Wills thread that Mr Yellen pointed out one thing started to stand out to me and that is the POLL, that poll its a small demographic but even in this small community the results is still shocking seeing that the majority does not have a will in place. That is the sort of things I want to address as well with the investing and savings aspect. Especially this thread (What do you use to manage your finances) and this thread (Budgeting) it touches on something that I also quickly realized not many South Africans are on top of their expenditures and just general "Where has my money gone" so something I want to address in this guide is sort of "The Fundamentals of Household finance" practical examples of how to track and save money how to know what money goes where and how to build up an emergency fund. All in all, A lot of work ahead. Hats off to you for doing the effort. I'll be willing to help where I can with questions, as I'm sure most members will, even though I'm also still learning a lot and consider myself a n00b

Equities = High Risk , sadly....The risk is mitigated with time. If you want to grow in 2 years put it in a bank account Even though it does hurt seeing your money disappearing, I agree. I constantly feel like I made a stupid mistake investing locally.

    Hello :)

Thanks! Some background, about 3 months ago I decided to take control of my finances. Been living and breathing it every single day from there by reading as much as possible. Started TFSA with EE, after much research bought a couple of ETFs. Opened RA with Sygnia and invested the rest I have in ETFs. Since then I've been budgeting like a baws with 50% income savings. I don't have a real target in terms of time frame, just trying to reach FI as quickly as possible
