  1. Also start buying taste at a relatively high level, around the time of the Starbucks announcement - started at R4+, but have bought a few times on the way down on now have an average cost of 313. Besides the bad timing though, still happy with my purchase. My worst trade was a CFD trade on MrPrice - did everything wrong - no plan, no position sizing, no stop loss AND doubled down a few times. The worst thing though, was my exit. Had enough on the 15 Novemeber - at around 11H00 - 126 something. Bye bye R30K. And a rather nice tennis racket got smashed on the court later that day.... But look what happens and hour or so after selling, after having the position for aprox 2.5months. Would have broken even 9 days later at around R152. Gutted. But did learn a few things.
  2. For the beginner trader with under R50k and only risking a max 2% and wanting to use CFDs - hard to beat GT247's offering. Besides 0.1% in and out, NO MINIMUM - makes a massive difference. The graphing package though, is less than useless - so it will depend on your trading system/style. As more a swing trader, it's not a problem for me, but for those that need intraday charts you might want to find a better charting software. Should also add, absa stockbrokings charting package is also useless. Actually far worse than GT247's. IG (i think) 0.2% in and out plus R100 minimum on CFD's (maybe not indices?) - lovely chart systems - trade off the charts - but you going to want to at least start with R50K plus - probably R100K really.
  3. I like the idea of opening one, funding to the max for 5 or so years, then letting it just tick over. 12 to 15 years of tax free compounding should mean it's worth a sizeable amount but at the same time have used very little of the kids allowance.
  4. I probably will also make the move away from EE for the TFSA - after using EE's for the last two years, am really enjoying trading with ABSA's. That said, am moving my capital gains portfolio over from ABSA to EE, but keeping the larger property portfolio with ABSA. I have also been doing a bit of trading using my ABSA account and have so far been relatively successful - not so with my GT247 and CFD's where I constantly seem to loose money - nothing to do with them though.
