No Green card - how to?

Hi Everyone,

 

I have tried to register on few South African platforms to start investing some savings in different ways - Like easy equities for instance. Every time, I get a reply like the one below (bold text):

 

we can ONLY open accounts for South African citizens or citizens of the Common Monetary Area (CMA) countries which include Namibia, Lesotho and Swaziland.

It is an Exchange Control issue that prevents us from allowing non-SA residents / citizens to acquire shares listed on South African exchanges

 

I have been living in South Africa for nearly 6 years and have another year and a half to wait before I can apply for a permanent residency, hence a green card... I have looked at various other options, like Vault or other online bank accounts with trading facilities.

 

But wiring money from a South African bank account to an account in Mauritius or Europe to finally use the money back in RSA seems like a huge cost on bank transfers and exchange rates...

 

Any advices on how to get started??
