Bitcoin: Get Rekt
avatar
My 2 ETFs are also starting to turn green - Satrix Capped INDI ETF (STXIND) AND SYGNIA ITRIX MSCI JAPAN (SYGJP) that Japan ETF... Almost sold it last year.
avatar
Same Big Grin ... Sad
avatar
Well, my TFIA is green for the first time since the February crash! :-) Okay, it's only due to my global ETFs, probably because of the Rand collapse, but it doesn't matter how we make money, as long as we make money!
avatar
Thx!
avatar
Otherwise Rasberry plus Plex
avatar
Chomecast + Plex on the PC
avatar
any suggestions what TV box to get? Had a rasberry pie, but KODI not working on it anymore
avatar
Ii still sleep with my door unlocked though... So that is nice.
avatar
Just so much bigger that "more shiaat" happens
avatar
Very blindly, JHB is safer than CPT
avatar
I don't want to begin digging I feel safe in the Western Cape, playing it blindly.
avatar
I'm sure if I search there will be more f*ed up things that happened but WTF! That taxi was shot at at 3pm.... 15 mins before my fiance drives past that exact corner
avatar
2. guy shot a taxi with an AK-47 before getting on a bike and speeding away
avatar
1. 2 cash in transit vans bombed and raided
avatar
The downside of living in the Twitter era is that we now here about all the shiaat that happens around us every day. Yesterday, in JHB alone (and not in the sticks, in town/suburbs):
avatar
I would go with bug
avatar
Nah it affected my bank balance... So I wonder now if this is a bug or intentional?
avatar
As long as it is just a visual bug
avatar
Given their track record, that wouldn't surprise me
avatar
I am seeing something strange on EasyEquities Their broker commision is the exact same price each time as what the Security Transfer Tax and Administration is. It feels like a bug?
avatar
Mmmm, @bandit is thecommunty down?
avatar
I mean, they're ETFs are amongst the best and if you list them they almost look like the "all stars": SP500, CTOP50, PTXTEN, GLPROP, GLODIV, DIVTRX
avatar
So if you are happy with the CoreShares ETFs and in it for the long haul with scheduled debit orders then I don't see why not
avatar
Cheaper than ABSA though and after recent events, why would anyone but active traders touch ABSA at all?
avatar
Biggest drawback was cost - there is a certain point where they become cheaper than EE but I think it was if the trade amount exceeded R10k
avatar
I remember doing the math and found that bug on ShareForum when they started
avatar
Mmmm, I will need to check them yea, forgot you can buy directly from them.
avatar
But there was a reason I didn't like them initially, can't remember why though
avatar
Decided to give the CoreShares platform another try. Two R250 (minimum) debit orders going, will see how it turns out in a a couple of months. If all the ETFs you want is on their platform, maybe not a bad idea for a TFSA
avatar
When does curro price itself out of the market? - Reading this it seems Curro is now offering loans to parents to keep their children in their schools https://www.businessinsider.co.za/curro-...-up-2018-4 seems the school fees is about R40k per child per year, that is a metric ton of cash to spend when our old model C schools are really not that bad.

Breaking: Christo Wiese is suing Steinhoff for R59 billion. "The Steinhoff group owns some excellent businesses most of which Steinhoff acquired from Pepkor in 2015."
avatar
If cloudflare's GEO IP service wasn't so expensive I would have used that to block RU and ASIA IPs
avatar
persistent losers
avatar
We do have Google's Rechapcha, there are no bots on this system, these are real spammers double opted in via email, Rechapcha twice.
avatar
And maybe a captcha or something on signup. Those asian fuckers spamming us with posts every morning... need to stop them some how.
avatar
Done ICO section is now View Only - If you are a business and want to introduce your ICO, contact me and I will review it.
avatar
I am down with that. Will do so today.
avatar
Most of them are bad copy paste jobs by bots or scams and I remove them anyway
avatar
With the current rate of ICO scams happening I'm off the opinion that we lock the ICO sub forum and remove any future ICO posts.
avatar
Really hoping they will come through this year.
avatar
that doesnt sound good

*JSE SAYS PEMBURY, TRENCOR FAILED TO SUBMIT REPORTS IN TIME

Heard about it when I was on the JHB trip - https://www.iol.co.za/personal-finance/r...ts-9841359

Dunno what you are saying. Is it English?

When will Retail Distribution Review (RDR) become a thing here?

The other half refuses to go on roller coasters because it is "dangerous". Perfectly happy to go on a boat in shark invested waters though...
avatar
Well, next time you are here let me know. We'll be children and go to Gold Reef City
avatar
The ability to shower was a bonus yes.
avatar
JHB is technically safer than CPT and we have water Tongue
avatar
That sucks! - Yea Igor from Advicement.co.za was nice enough to let us stay with him, stunning guy was weird coming from Cape Town to JHB, I posted to facebook every 2 hours that I am still alve, turns out JHB is a lot nicer than I thought, will need to relay the experience back to fellow Western Cape persons that JHB is okay-ish.
avatar
Yeah, weekend was nuts and to top it all off our fibre broke on Saturday so now I have to wait and hopefully get SADV to fix it this afternoon Sad

Simon is great
avatar
Met Simon! What an awesome guy in person he is!
avatar
What a weekend. - Sucked that we missed each other.

TFIM
avatar
Oh well, there we have it: Sagarmatha Technologies will not list on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange on 13 April
avatar
Or today is the approval and Friday is the listing?
avatar
Sagarmatha Technologies is listing now right?
avatar
Or Corronation. But that'll have to wait for now
avatar
Still thinking of moving my TFSA to Allan Gray
avatar
EasyEquites is fine, small issues, but not crooks just incompetent here and there - my money is still safe, so I like them.
avatar
EasyE for the win. - I need to read up a little more about Sagarmatha - we need a thread bandit
avatar
And ABSA, with their new "inactivity fee" can go fly a kite. The only ETF TFSA provider that is worth a look right now is EE, and that is saying something Sad
avatar
All this to raise R3 billion. Looks very suspicious and when you consider his ties with the Guptas, no friggin way
avatar
Create company with 120 shares at R1 per share. Dilute shares and let your struggling Independent Media company with R2.3billion debt buy 20% of it at over R10 million....
avatar
For spectator value or actually investing? It's a friggin ponzi scheme
avatar
Looking forward to the Sagarmatha Technologies listing.
avatar
February and March has been horrific for ETFs and shares. I'm down over 10% on my entire portfolio since the beginning of the year.
avatar
What is going on with the ETF's? My TFSA is not looking so nice. Is it the Naspers situation; VAT change maybe?

Every quarter the JSE has a closeout - this happens so that prices on futures can be calculated and determined for the next quarter. This means that between 11h55 - 12h20 (CAT), 15th March, you will not be able to buy or sell anything, because all trading on the JSE will be halted.

Saw that too

Also their footer text is wrong ever since they launched in SA, so not very impressed with them seems unprofessional.
avatar
Actually on second thought, I won't. Too much shilling and behind the scenes kickbacks at that place to make it trustworthy.
avatar
I mean I would almost put mybroadband above them and that says a lot.
avatar
WTF is this (https://www.businessinsider.co.za/we-wen...-us-2018-3) is that suppose to be the competition of Moneyweb and Bloomberg Africa?
avatar
I genuinely thought they where a real publication in the business section like Bloomberg and Reuters, turns out they are more like a teenager sensation.
avatar
Agreed. Haven't seen anything that would set them apart
avatar
I am glad I am not the only one.
avatar
Anyone else disappointed by the content from Business Insider SA? It feels like a facebook type compiler nothing to do with business instead it rehashes click baity content.
avatar
I see the Sygnia lady is onto them! (She really is a upstanding citizen, I wish more CEOs would throw their weight around), we citizens cannot do much, but these large listed companies are what drives the economy.)

Our Fed, Who art in Washington, Yellen be thy name, Thy printing come, Thy will be done by Ben as it is with Janet, Give us this day our daily billion, and increase our debts, As we bail out our debtors, And lead us not into inflation, But deliver us from down markets, For thine is the printing, the bubble and the euphoria, Forever till taper. Amen

Did anyone transfer their TFSA yet?
avatar
Charting like analysis and stuff I think investing.com is your best bet for JSE data since the JSE refuses to make the data available without having to pay exorbitant fees. For normal stuff I use Google finance I can compare different stocks, ETFs etc. I won't know what to do if I am given a charting package - no clue how that black magic works. I'm a fundamentals guy, does the company make a profit, if yes I buy.
avatar
Whats the best way to chart our JSE stocks. Only way I have found so far is on investing dot com. Is there any other way I'm missing out on? Would be nice to have on tradingview.
avatar
Yes. People are getting nervous of Bitcoin lately, especially because of the scams, schemes and hacks. Even some of your staunchest hodlers are thinking of selling. It's a stressful market to be in at the moment.
